In these tables, I attempted to interpret the written descriptions provided in the survey to assign a level of severity. Clearly, this is very subjective. However, I believe the results give a general indication of some of the problems accompanying Sotos syndrome. Again, while there are some very clear problems, such as dental and behavioral, it is significant that some of the Sotos children do not have them. There was no area in which 100% of the survey respondants reported the same result.

Many of the survey questions had a space for open-ended comments and most respondants took advantage of this. For each area, such as nose bleeds, the comments have been extracted to a separate web page. To see them, click on the highlighted word "Comments".

Under the category of "Other Medical Problems", I noticed a large number of responses that mentioned ear infections and upper respiratory infections so I made counts of these items.

Under "TV Watching", I went thru the comments and judged whether the child paid little attention to TV, was a "normal" child (which, unfortunately, implies a lot of TV watching), or was obsessive about TV (or video) watching. I also recorded whether the parents indicated that TV watching was restricted in any way. (Since this was not explicitly asked, it's likely that the number of parents who restrict TV viewing is higher than I indicate.

Note that in some cases, the reported percentages do not add up to 100%. This simply means that a few people did not respond to that question.
