Church Records from Early Columbia County, New York

This information is third-hand and incomplete but nonetheless useful.  It was provided to me by Harry D. Hamm, a genealogical volunteer at the Columbia County Historical Society in support of my search for information on my ancestors, Jeremiah Bortle (1795–1855) and his daughter, Mary Jenette Bortle (1820–1875).  The Society's staff and volunteers have prepared copies of the church records.  Mr. Hamm then wrote out the "Bortle" entries in longhand for me; I worked from this. Therefore, in spite of our goals of complete accuracy, there could be mistakes. The spelling of names is, of course, subject to the usual creative spasms that epitomize early writers.
