his collection of about 1200 Web pages comprises the evolving genealogy of Walter Gilbert and his immediate family. This Web site is designed to be viewed in two parts: the index page and contents pages. You are looking at the first content page right now. The index should be at the left with a light green background. If it is not there, you may want to click here to restart this genealogy with the index included. It is about 7000 names long—about 350KB—and may take a moment to load.

If you want to skip this blurb and jump right in, you can: look up a name in the index at the left, or browse the ancestral chart, or go to my own page which is the root of the whole thing.

One of the reasons for this page is to give an example of what the genealogy pages look like. The background of the page should be a very light yellow. If it is not, then your computer has a very limited ability to display colors. The pages all have a title box at the top like this one which includes the generation of the family on the page and the name of the blood relation(s) to me.

These pages take advantage of advanced features of Web pages. They all include JavaScript coding and some complex tables. The reason for telling you this is that some old Web browsers and computers with small memories may experience problems displaying the pages. If you go to a page and it does not have a title box in the style of the one above, then either your Web browser or computer cannot cope or possibly you have JavaScript "turned off" in your browser. I strongly suggest that you turn it on; it poses no security threat.
