964–965.  Johannes Van Alen was born in Kinderkook, Columbia County, New York, about 1672. Sara Dingman was born in Kinderhook, Columbia County, New York, about 1676, and died in Kinderhook in 1746. They were married in Albany, New York, on Saturday, July 3, 1697. She took the name Sara Van Alen. He is the son of Laurentius and Elbertje Evertse (Bancker) Van Alen. She is the daughter of Adam and Aeltie Jacobse (Gardenier) Dingman. They had nine children:

i. Mauris Van Alen: he was christened on November 6, 1698, in Kinderhook, New York.
ii. Adam Van Alen [#482]: He was baptized in Kinderhook on July 21, 1700, and died about October, 1748.
iii. Jacobus Van Alen: He was christened on October 18, 1702, in Kinderhook, New York.
iv. Elbertje Van Alen: She was christened on January 7, 1705, in Kinderhook, Columbia County, New York. She married Johannes Hogeboom.
v. Alida Van Alen: She was christened on February 5, 1707, in Kinderhook, Columbia County, New York. She married Dirck Vosburg on April 8, 1729.
vi. Elizabeth Van Alen: She was christened on April 25, 1709, in Kinderhook, Columbia County, New York. She married Isaac Van Alstyne.
vii. Catharina Van Alen: She was born on December 12, 1711, in Kinderhook, Columbia County, New York. She married Martin Van Alstyne.
viii. Abraham Van Alen: He was christened about 1713 in Kinderhook, New York.
ix. Evert Van Alen: He was born in about 1715 in Kinderhook, Columbia County, New York. He married Marguerita Fitzgerald.
