8GD.  Harold Robert Marshall was born in Luddington, Michigan, on Monday, May 7, 1906, and died in Byron Center, Kent County, Michigan, on July 1, 1982. Margaret Ella Dursum was born in Moosejaw, Saskatchewan, Canada, on Thursday, November 2, 1911, and died in Lamont, Michigan, on April 18, 1995. She was known as Marge. They were both buried in Winchester Cemetery, Byron Township. They were married in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan, on Friday, February 2, 1934. She took the name Margaret Ella Marshall. He is the son of Robert M. and Lida M. (Gilbert) Marshall. She is the daughter of John Joseph and Margaret Jane (McDowell) Dursum. They had one child:

i. Laurence Eugene Marshall [#8GDA]: He was born in Byron Center, Kent Counry, Michigan, on July 25, 1937.

Harold and Marge were farmers who lived most of their lives on the family homestead: 6857 Burlingame, SW; Byron Center. Most of the original 40 acres was sold to the City of Wyoming, Michigan; the remaining five acres were used for a vegetable garden for the family. The farm was sold soon after Harold died. Margaret moved in with her son and his family for ten months, then in a new senior citizen apartment just down the road, and finally to the Glenwood Christian Nursing Home in Lamont where she died.

Harold worked as a foreman for the Lamar Pipe and Tile Co., Wyoming. He was twice sent to live on the St. Mary's River (which connects Lake Huron and Lake Superior) while the company opened a new plant there.
