772773. Matthew Dill was born in Ulster Plantation, Monaghan, Donegal, Ireland, in 1698, and died in Dillsburg, York County, Pennsylvania, on October 13, 1750. Mary Hamilton was born in the North of Ireland insay1700, and died probably in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, in 1756. They were married about 1718. She took the name Mary Dill. He is the son of John Dill. They had seven children:

They lived in Dillsburg, York County, Pennsylvania. The earliest found record of Matthew Dill in America is the tax assessment lists of the inhabitants of Fallowfield Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
The commission of Captain was granted to Matthew during his services with the
Association Regiment of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. This organization was
established by Benjamin Franklin who also designed its flag.
Matthew became captain of the foot soldiers in 174748 under the command
of Colonel Benjamin Chambers.
