Abigail Sturgis was born in Connecticut about 1673, and died in Westport, Connecticut, on September 14, 1730. He is the son of Simon and Mary (Andrews?) Couch. She is the daughter of John and Deborah (Barlow) Sturges. They had nine children:

| vii. | Sarah Couch was born on March 30, 1706, baptized in Fairfield Church on May 12, 1706, and died in Westport on March 9, 1783. She married John Andrews on October 28, 1730. | |
| viii. | Isabel Couch was born on September 17, 1708, baptized in Fairfield Church on October 17, 1708, and died on November 7, 1754. She married Benjamin Rumsey in 1729. | |
| ix. | Deborah Couch was born on March 30, 1710, and baptized in Fairfield Church on May 14, 1710. She married Jacob Jones of Ridgefield. |
Her second marriage was to Ens. John Andrews.
The will of Simon Couch was dated March 2, 1712/3 and proved April 7, 1713. It mentions his wife Abigail and brother-in-law, Jonathan Sturgis; son Thomas "who had land left him by my brother Thomas"; son Simon; slaves; five daughters: Abigail, Hannah, Sarah, Isabel, and Deborah. The births of the children (above) are given in the probate record. Distribution of his estate was made on February 20, 1718/9 to those named in the will, the only married daughter being Abigail Edwards.
The will of Abigail (Sturgis)(Couch) Andrews was dated 7 Feb. 1729/30 and proved on 22 Sept. 1730. It mentions daughters Abigail Edwards, Hannah Osborn, Sarah Couch, Isabel Rumsey, Deborah Couch; sons Thomas and Simon Couch.
On February 23, 1724/5, Anthony Batterson of Norwalk quitclaimed to
Thomas and Simon Couch any pretense of right to land or any other estate which
did belong to Mr. Simon Couch, deceased, the father of Thomas and Simon.
