58D.  John Owens Pollock was born in Preble County, Ohio, on Thursday, April 22, 1824, and died in Dowagiac, Cass County, Michigan, on February 23, 1897. Sarah Wyatt was born near Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, on Monday, February 22, 1836, and died in Dowagiac on January 31, 1901. They were both buried in Riverside Cemetery, Dowagiac.. They were married on Wednesday, April 11, 1860. She took the name Sarah Pollock. He is the son of John and Mary (_____) Pollock. She is the daughter of Albert and Rachael (Crane) Wyatt. They were married January 19, 1835. They had six children:

i. Carrie S. Pollock was born in Penn Township, Cass County, Michigan, on February 18, 1861, and died on December 3, 1942. She and George H. Dewey were married June 7, 1885. They lived on Spruce Street in Dowagiac.
ii. Albert Elmer Pollock was born in Penn Township on August 20, 1862, and died on January 18, 1920. He and Pansy Miller were married on October 13, 1884. His name in the Bible for the marriage entry was "Elmer A.".
iii. Arthur Lanie Pollock was born in Penn Township on March 13, 1864, and died on December 31, 1920.
iv. Martha Liora(?) Pollock was born in Penn Township on May 28, 1866, and died on January 24, 1941. She married William Hollenbeck at the home of her sister, Carrie Dewey. She was a sixth grade teacher in Dowagiac. He was a foreman in the railroad shops of the Chicago, Burlington, Quincy, and Aurora. After their wedding, they moved to Aurora, Ill.
v. Mary Jane Pollock was born in Penn Township on September 30, 1868.
vi. John Emory Pollock was born in Penn Township on October 27, 1870.

John Owens Pollock Died at
His Home This Morning

  After a brief illness of only 11 days, John Owens Pollock died at his home in this city at 7 o'clock this morning, the immediate cause of death being Bright's disease.
  The deceased was born April 22, 1824, in Prebel [sic] county, Ohio. On April 11, 1860, he was married to Miss Sarah Wyatt, of Rochester, N. Y. Immediately afterward they moved to this state, settling on a farm in Penn township, this county [Cass], where they had since lived, until about four years ago, when they moved into the present home in this city.
  Besides the wife, six children survived to mourn the loss of the departed father. They are as follows: J. E. Pollock, who resides in Mapleton, North Dakota; Mrs. G. H. Dewey, Miss Mary Pollock, Miss M. L. Pollock, E. A. Pollock and A. L. Pollock, all of whom reside in this city.
  It may be said of the deceased that he lived a long and useful life contributing his share to the world's wealth and happiness. He was a kind father, a loving husband, and will be sadly missed, not only by the bereaved family, but by scores of sympathetic friends. He was a zealous and consistent christian, and deserving of all the eternal glory that inures to those who follow in the wake of their Savior.
  The funeral will be held from the house Wednesday afternoon [March 3] at 2 o'clock, Revs. Buell and Griffiths officiating. The remains will be laid to rest in Riverside.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilber Pollock and Mr. and Mrs. William Pollock, of Cassopolis, and Fr. and Mrs. Fred Pollock, of Wayne, attended the funeral of John Pollock yesterday.

A Long and Useful Career Ended in the Passing of a Well Known Lady

  Sarah Wyatt Pollock, who passed away Thursday at 10 o'clock a.m. was born February 22, 1836 near Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. She became a resident of Michigan at the early age of ten years, settling in Penn township.
  Her home was in Penn township until 1893 when she and her husband moved to Dowagiac to spend their last days. Sarah Wyatt was married in 1860 to John O. Pollock in the state of New York where she was at the time attending school. About three years after coming to Dowagiac to live, Mr. Pollock died.
  Six children were born to the deceased, all of whom are now living and happily wedded. They are ex-Alderman Elmer Pollock, Nightwatchman Arthur Pollock and Mrs. G. H. Dewey, all of this city; Mrs. Mattie Hollenbeck, of Aurora, Ill., Mrs. Mary Wilcox, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and John Pollock, of Fargo, No. Dak. The deceased was the last of her family.
  The funeral will be held tomorrow at 10:30 at the home of the deceased's daughter, Mrs. G. H. Dewey, where she passed away, Rev. Mr. H. L. Potter officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside beside her husband.
