58–59.  John Pollock was born in Ireland between 1788 and 1792, and died in Cass County, Michigan, in 1864. Mary _____ was born in—say—1795, and died in Cass County in 1848. Seven children are attributed to this family; only four are known:

i. Mary Ann Pollock [#29]: She was born in Pennsylvania, U.S.A., in 1816-1817, and died probably in Cass County, Michigan, U.S.A., about 1856. (That Mary Ann is John's daughter is likely but unproven.)
ii. Bridget Pollock was born in Pennsylvania in 1816-1817. She appears in the 1860 census living with James Pollock, below. Joyce Peterson provided the following.
Bridget died April 17, 1889, in Cass County Mich.; no burial information was found. She suffered from heart disease most of her life, never married and was living with her family all the time: brothers and sisters then niece and nephews. Sources: Juniata County, Pa., records, including the wills of Robert and James Pollock.
iii. William Pollock: This entry is added on pure speculation. The Collections and Researches Made by the Michigan Pioneer and Historical Society contains: William Pollock, born in Preble county, Ohio, August 6, 1820, came to this county when but ten years old, died suddenly at Cassopolis, June 3, 1894.
iv. James Pollock: he was born 1821-22 in Ohio; married Amanda Jane Reames; children: Fred and Bertha (more is known of their offspring).
v. John Owens Pollock [#58D]: He was born in Preble County, Ohio, on April 22, 1824, and died in Dowagiac, Cass County, Michigan, on February 23, 1897.

Most of the information about this Pollock family came from notes written by Nettie (Youngblood) Walter. Some information came from census data. The uncertainty is whether the father of the family is John Pollock, born in Ireland. This assumption is made on the basis that he is found living with James Pollock in 1860.

Per David Pollock, there is a book on the History of Cass County which includes:

John and Mary Pollock came from Ireland and settled in Pokagon Township. He departed this life in 1864 and she 1848. John O. Pollock, one of their seven children....
If they truly had seven children, then there are still several "spaces" to fill in the above list of children. It certainly make it more plausible that Mary Ann was a daughter of John and Mary. This quote is the only source of John wife's name: Mary. From the census records, it can be implied that she died between 1840 and 1850.
