540–541.  Samuel Beardsley was born in Stratford, Fairfield, Connecticut, in 1638, and died in Stratford on December 24, 1706. Abigail Clark was born in Stratford about 1642. They were married about 1663. She took the name Abigail Beardsley. He is the son of William and Mary (Harvie) Beardsley. She is the daughter of John Clark. They had 12 children:

i. Abigail Beardsley was born in Stratford on August 10, 1664. She married Thomas Trowbridge.
ii. Samuel Beardsley was born in Stratford on September 1, 1666, and died in 1690. He married Sarah Sherwood on 2 Jul 1691.
iii. William Beardsley was born in Stratford on March 22, 1668, and died on October 23, 1747. He married Elizabeth Brown on 5 Jul 1699.
iv. Daniel Beardsley [#270]: He was born in Stratford, Connecticut, on April 3, 1671, and died in Stratford.
v. John Beardsley was born in Stratford on October 11, 1673. He married Mary Booth on 7 Jan 1701; he married more than once.
vi. Ephraim (or Ebenezer) Beardsley was born in Stratford on February 4, 1675, and died in 1748. He married Sarah _____.
vii. Benjamin Beardsley: born December 21, 1677, in Stratford, Connecticut; died July 2, 1712.
viii. Mary Beardsley was born in Stratford on May 1, 1680. She married Jonathan Wakeley.
ix. Hannah Beardsley was born in Stratford on October 20, 1682. She married John Parruch.
x. Deborah Beardsley: born in 1684 in Stratford, Connecticut.
xi. Nathan Beardsley was born in Stratford on October 7, 1686, and died on August 6, 1750. He married Mary _____ on 13 Jun 1709; he married more than once.
xii. Sarah Beardsley was born in Stratford in 1688. She married Thomas Barnum.

Jacobus does not include two children given in The Beardsley Family: Deborah and Sarah; although Sarah Barnum is listed among his widow's heirs.

Samuel died in Stratford on December 24, 1706. His widow died before May 2, 1727, when the third of his estate set aside for her was divided among her heirs: Hannah Parrack, Daniel Beardsley, Sarah Barnum, Jonathan Wakelee, John Beardsley and Nathan Beardsley. John Beardsley, Jr., and Jonathan Wakelee were appointed administrators of his estate in Stratford on April 10, 1707. Distribution was ordered to: his widow; his five sons: William, Daniel, John, Benjamin, and Nathan; his two daughters; his eldest son is deceased, had received a portion.
