5340–5341. Peter Bulkeley, (Rev.) was born in Odell, county Bedford, England, on Thursday, January 31, 1582/3, and died in Concord, Massachusetts, on March 9, 1658/9. Jane Allen was born in Goldington, county Bedford, England, and died in Odell. She was buried on December 8, 1626. They were married in Goldington on Monday, April 12, 1613. She took the name Jane Bulkeley. He is the son of Edward, (Rev.) and Olive (Irby) Bulkeley. They had nine children:

His second marriage was to Grace Chetwood. She was born in County Bedford, England, about 1602, and died in New London, Connecticut, on April 21, 1669. They had four children:

Peter Bulkeley received a B.D. degree at St. John's College, Cambridge. He succeeded his father in the parish of Odell; however, his Puritan leanings eventually caused him to be silenced for nonconformity. The 1635 passenger list for the Susan & Ellin contains the names Peter Bulkley, age 50, Ben. Bulkley 11, Daniell Bulkley 9. At about the same time, the passenger list of Elizabeth and Ann contained the name Grace Bulkley, age 33. It can be presumed that the other children traveled on one ship or the other under fictitious names.
Peter lived in Cambridge, Massachusetts, for a while then founded Concord where he "buried a great estate" in the wilderness. He was a scholar, composer of Latin verses, author of Gospel Covenant, and served Concord as preacher until shortly before his death.
