4ABA. Stephen R Gilbert was born in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan, on Friday, April 12, 1957. Brenda Kay Hess was born in Concordia, Kansas, on Saturday, September 28, 1957. They were married in Wichita, Kansas, on Friday, June 24, 1977. She took the name Brenda Kay Gilbert. He is the son of Raymond Cecil and Marian Louise (Subora) Gilbert. She is the daughter of Robert Rex and Geneva Marie (Cotey) Hess. They had two children:

Steve graduated from Wichita High School West and went to work for a company building basements. He is now [1999] working for Boeing. Brenda attended Campus High School in Haysville, Kansas, through the 11th grade. She moved to Halstead, Kansas, and graduated from Halstead High School in 1976.
