482–483. Adam Van Alen was baptized in Kinderhook, Columbia County, New York, on Sunday, July 21, 1700, and died about October, 1748. Catherine Van Alstyne was baptized in Kinderhook on Monday, October 12, 1713. They were married on Sunday, January 31, 1731. She took the name Catherine Van Alen. He is the son of Johannes and Sara (Dingman) Van Alen. She is the daughter of Abraham Jansen and Marritje (Van Deursen) Van Alstyne. They had six children:

| v. | Abraham Van Alen: He was born on July 24, 1744, in Athens Greene, Columbia County, New York. He married Catharina Van Buren on 27 Sep 1766. | |
| vi. | Lena Van Alen: She was christened on September 21, 1746, in Athens Greene, Columbia County, New York, and died on December 18, 1769. She married Jacobus Vanderpoel on June 16, 1764. |
Her second marriage was to Lucas Wyngard on Friday, January 5, 1753. She took the name Catherine Wyngard.
The will of Adam van Alen was dated October 17, 1748, and proved on
January 20, 1749.
