She married Charles Murphy; he died November 26, 1905, at age 56. Their only child was Alva, a telegraph operator, who was fired (according to Emma Duffy) for drunkenness. His wife was Theresa. He was very hard on his mother, and at her funeral, went about brandishing a knife, seriously frightening Emma and her mother (Margaret Lydia).
iii. Margaret Lydia Tenbroeck [#15]: She was born in Summit Township, Erie County, Pennsylvania, on October 23, 1852, and died in Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, on October 15, 1938.

Peter and Mary were married in the Reformed Church of Claverack. They were both listed as being from Claverack. R. Sluyter, (Rev.) performed the service; Jonathan Hardon was the witness. A notice appeared in the newspaper on March 12, 1842. Note that the Bible gives the year as 1841.

Peter Tenbroeck and his family moved from New York to Erie County, Pennsylvania in 1853. He, his wife, and two daughters then moved to Berrien County, Michigan during the Civil War. Their son, Jeremiah, joined them later, in 1886. Peter had an identical twin brother, Walter. Peter's middle name was obviously intended to be Van Rensselaer for the family of his great great grandmother, Maria Van Rensselaer. However, it was often spelled Van Ransselar or occasionally Van Ranselar.

Emma (Youngblood) Duffy recalls her mother, Margaret Lydia, saying that when the family moved from Pennsylvania to Michigan, her father (Peter) would not let her bring her clothes rack in a effort to keep the freight costs down. However, she took it apart and smuggled it along.
