v. William Hurlbut was born in England on May 2, 1612, and died in Northampton, Massachusetts Bay Colony, on April 17, 1694. He and his wife, Ann, had five children: John Hulbard, John Hurlbut, Sarah Hurlbut, Ann Hurlbut, William Hurlbut
He came to Dorchester (Massachusetts) on the Mary and John in 1630, he sold land there in 1635. He was at Windsor Plantation (Connecticut) before 1640 (probably 1635 or 1636), removed to Hartford where his first wife died. He married second wife, Ann, widow of Samuel Allen who was buried in Windsor April 28, 1648. This marriage was before September 26, 1653. [Note:] His name does not appear in The Great Migration Begins ... which is a carefully researched account of all immigrants from 1620 thru 1633, but there is a William Hulbird. Are they the same?

[Note: There is confusion between William Hurlbut and William Hulbird. The latter appears in The Great Migration Begins ...; the only person that book with a name remotely similar to Hurlbut (it is also spelled Hulberd and Hullberd in the colonial records). Therefore, if these are the same person, then the information in the book will be useful; if they are not, then we can be certain that William Hurlbut did not arrive before 1633.
