2048–2049.  Richard Gilbert was born in England in—say—1550, and died in Yardley, county Worcester, England, on April 8, 1626. Margery Morken was born in England in—say—1550. They were married in Yardley on Saturday, June 25, 1575. She took the name Margery Gilbert. They had five children:

i. Elizabeth Gilbert was baptized in Yardley on April 8, 1576. She is probably the Elizbeth Gilbert who married Thomas Mars in Yardley on April 16, 1605, and had child, Elizabeth Marshe who was christened there October 25, 1607.
ii. Parnell Gilbert was baptized in Yardley on June 15, 1578.
iii. Margaret Gilbert was baptized in Yardley on October 7, 1580. She married John Merston on November 2, 1603, in Yardley.
iv. Richard Gilbert was baptized in Yardley on January 1, 1585/6, and died in Yardley on January 18, 1585/6. He died in infancy.
v. Thomas Gilbert [#1024]: He was baptized in Yardley on April 25, 1589, and died in Wethersfield, Connecticut, before September 5, 1659.

The discovery of this family was done by Douglas Richardson and the details published in The American Genealogist. No information on the parents of Richard Gilbert has been found.

The parents of Margery Morken are also unknown. There are no other Morken entries in the Yardley parish registers, none in the Worcester probate index and none in the 1603 subsidy rolls for northern Worcestershire (John Amphlett, Lay Subsidy Roll A.D. 1603 for the County of Worcester[Oxford 1901]). Further search for Margery should center on nearby parishes across the border in Warwickshire or Staffordshire. Following their marriage, Richard and Margery lived in Yardley, where a Richard Gilbert was buried on 8 April 1626. There is no burial in Yardley for Margery under the Gilbert surname, nor have probate records in the Consistory Court of Worcester or the Prerogative Court of Canterbury been found for either of them.
