1282–1283.  John Chapman was born in England and died in Stamford, Connecticut, in 1665. His wife was Martha Lawrence Martha was the widow of Thomas Lawrence of Milford. Her third marriage was on December 17, 1657, in Stamford, to Francis Brown. They had two children:

i. Mary Chapman
ii. Elizabeth Chapman [#641]: She was born _____, and died about 1695.

John Chapman was an original settler of New Haven: 1638. In 1647 he sold his property and moved to Fairfield, and soon thereafter to Stamford. On January 13, 1653/4, Richard Osborn, as an agent for John Chapman, entered land at Fairfield which was purchased from George Hull.
