1066–1067.  John Brinsmade was born in England circa 1610, and died in Stratford, Fairfield County, Connecticut, in 1673. His name was often spelled Brinsmead. Mary Carter was born in England. They were married in Charlestown, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, on Thursday, October 24, 1639. She took the name Mary Brinsmade. They had six children:

i. Mary Brinsmade [#533]: She was born in Charlestown on July 24, 1640, and died in Stratford on December 28, 1704.
ii. John Brinsmade: He was born March 2, 1642/3.
iii. Daniel Brinsmade: He married Sarah Kellogg.
iv. Paul Brinsmade: He married Elizabeth Howkins.

John Brinsmade was the Deputy from Stratford to the Connecticut Legislature October 1671, May and October 1672. He had settled in Charlestown, Massachusetts, by 1636, and was made a freeman on May 2, 1638.

On November 4, 1673, the agreement of the heirs of John (Sr.) of Stratford was signed by his widow Mary; sons John, Daniel, Paul, and Samuel; daughter Elizabeth Brinsmade; and John Bostwick, husband of daughter Mary (she had part of portion at her marriage and did not sign the agreement). The inventory included £519, about 60 books, and land at Stratford and Derby.
