Depression glass, at least in the Depression Era, was very easily obtainable to the American public. It was sold in department stores, factory outlets, kitchen ware stores and even by mail order. It was also given away as prizes at fairs and carnivals, as well as in food boxes such as cereal or oatmeal (like the box on the left) and household products such as laundry detergents (Pickvet 289). It's availability to the general public and not just to the upper class, made depression glass a prominent and common addition to dining room tables all across the country.
