Anxiety and Obsolescence

Two of my favorite words, in one post title! :)

Incidentally, the instructor who led my FInal Cut Pro workshop on Friday said that she does all her sound recording now using a shotgun mic jacked into a camcorder; she said mini DV tapes are less fragile than DATs, they record superior quality sound, assuming your hardware's any good, and they have the special added bonus of having visuals that will let you know where the key points of your sound fall. So I'm now thinking slightly confused thoughts about convergence in media production as well as consumption....
