Last night Jason Nelson blew the doors (not to mention the speakers and a few minds as well) off a packed house at the University of Maryland. The set list included new work like Dreamaphage and Conversations, old favorites (Plush, Nine Attempts to Clone a Poem, and Panhandle), and some early stuff in HTML. Plus stories about trains and Myrtle Beach seafood buffets. Eighty or more people left the room with the new-found notion that “electronic literature” is not an oxymoron, not to mention that Jason is a pretty strange (and brilliantly talented) guy. Thanks to the Jiménez-Porter Writers’ House, MITH, and everyone who helped put this together.
Update: A fresh interview (of sorts) with Jason by Scott Rettberg, interpolated by a dragon.
