I thought this would make a pretty good title for a country-western song. Indeed, I've written some lyrics, but I'll keep them to myself for now. You're welcome to try your hand, though . . . (we'll split royalties).
Posted by mgk at March 29, 2003 04:29 PMI thought up an opening verse in the shower this morning:
I was feelin' sad on Monday, feelin' kinda blue.
Wishin' that the USA'd find a WMD or two.
Then I saw those golden arches, lookin' pure and true.
And to make myself feel better, I knew what I had to do.
And a chorus:
Oh, supersize my freedom fries.
Don't skimp on justice sauce.
We'll introduce Saddam Hussein
to his new shift-crew boss.
We'll make him work the fryer.
The answer's plain to see.
Won't stop till there's a happy meal
for every Iraqi.
I realize that this is more silly than politically pointed, but there you go.

It's not my "song" really, just a silly title. If you want to use George's lyrics (above) you'll have to ask him . . .
Posted by: MGK at April 1, 2003 06:09 PM | Link to CommentI hereby grant Mudgieudie@hotmail.com permission to use my lyrics in a documentary (assuming the request is not an April Fool's joke -- I haven't been the recipient of any today ... yet). Do not credit them to me, please. :-) I'd like to hear more about the documentary, though. I realize that the lyrics could be interpreted as ironic or as patriotic (the latter not really my original intention), and I'm curious as to what purpose they'd serve.

Posted by: George at April 1, 2003 07:55 PM | Link to CommentHere's a snippet I can't get out of my head that can go along with this song:
I think I'll pass
on the mustard gas
I wrote a song called "Freedom Fries" on the first night of the Iraq war. I added a couple of verses over time. Here are mp3 links if you would like to check them out.
